“Block Friday” is finally over, two weeks later

It’s now been about 2 weeks since the Block Friday feeding frenzy started.

Which means the relentless barrage of offers is finally winding down, thank God.

And I’m not only speaking as a professional copywriter here (since it’s the busiest time of the year for me), but also as a consumer

Because now maybe my poor inbox will get to have a little rest from all the businesses trying to sell me things. In fact, there were so many emails, I actually had to unsubscribe and “block” some senders. Just to keep my sanity.

And I’m not the only one who found it overwhelming.

I was talking to a friend of mine (a highly capable copywriter herself), and she told me in detail about her email reading habits during Block Friday:

“Delete, delete, delete.”

Which, incidentally, is the exact attitude you should be expecting from ALL your readers every time late November rolls around.

You cannot expect bland, “salesy” subject lines to cut through the noise. Because your audience is already getting about a bajillion of them from every business imaginable.

What should you do instead?

Use subject lines that interrupt that pattern.

Subject lines that stop the reader dead in their tracks, and make them hesitate over that “DELETE” button. Subject lines which are so intriguing, that they can’t help but open your email and find out what you’re talking about.

And if you’d like to learn how to write such subject lines?
